It’s that time of year again! Soon there will be holiday feasts flying at you left and right. It can be all too tempting to throw your workout routine out the window and accept yoga pants are your life now. But don’t give in! Nothing gets me more excited for the gym than new workout stuff – leggings, sports bras, headphones…and don’t even get me started on water bottles. What can I say? But what about the things you actually need at the gym? Forget all the fancy stuff, here’s your list of essentials!

There’s nothing like an awesome playlist to get you really going at the gym, but who likes dealing with headphone cords flapping around while you’re on the treadmill or lifting weights? No one that’s who! Not to mention having to keep your phone close to actually keep those earbuds in. And wireless headphones are generally pretty pricey, right? WRONG! I snagged these babies for less that $50, and they are AMAZING. [ Get them here!!] Wireless is definitely the way to go at the gym – no wires, no earbuds falling out, and I can control volume and everything!
When I first got them in I was a little worried they would be too bulky or be uncomfortable, but after my first gym session with them my worries were gone. They didn’t budge, were super comfortable, and had great sound quality!
2) Water Bottle
I picked up this water bottle while I was still in school and have loved it ever since! [Get it here!] I hate drinking plain water all day, so I wanted an infuser bottle that could double as a shaker one if/when I needed. Also being super picky about water bottles, finding one that worked was tough. Thankfully I stumbled across this one! I love that I can use it to infuse my water throughout the day, then pop out the infuser basket when I head to the gym!
My personal favorite water infusion is strawberry and lemon, but orange is a close second!
3) Comfy Shoes
I absolutely hate running. A lot. Which is fine for me because I can’t overdo it with cardio. That means I don’t need fancy running shoes – I just need something comfortable (and obviously purple!). I’m not a huge shopper, so I typically wear the ever-living heck out of my shoes and clothes. These shoes are going on 3? years now and still get the job done. I picked them up at an outlet sale, which meant I got some expensive AF shoes for ~$50, and I’ve definitely getting my money’s worth!

4) Workout Clothes
I’m definitely a legging and baggy t-shirt kind of person at the gym, so I’m definitely thanking myself for collecting all those random t-shirts while I was still in school! Lately, I’ve been picking up leggings, socks and sports bras at my local wholesale club. They fit well, come in a bunch of fun colors, and are super affordable – what’s not to love?

5) A Kick-Ass Playlist
When I’m not meeting up with one of my friends at the gym, I love to crank up my music, drown out everything, and just focus on my workout. I’m not creative enough to come up with my own playlist, so I rely on Spotify’s Cardio or dancePOP playlists to get the job done.
6) Gym Bag + Essentials
Even though I don’t bring much with me, I put everything in my gym bag. That way, I don’t have to go around my house looking for where I put my headphones or lock. Speaking of lock – my gym, like most gyms, have lockers to keep all your stuff in while you’re busy actually working out. But, they don’t provide locks. So be sure to bring your own, or just keep it in your gym bag so you won’t forget it!
