Goodbye November and HELLO December! Holy cow has 2017 just flown by this year! To think in only 31 days it’ll be 2018. Yikes! But the end of another month means another Currently Loving post and a little coffee chat with me, plus I have a little survey for you (it’s super quick I promise!). So grab a cup o’ joe or some delicious hot chocolate and get comfy, and don’t forget about the reader survey and giveaway down below!

Last month I shared a bit about my credit card debt struggle, which essentially lit a bonfire under my ass to get my ish together. And get my ish together I did – all those good vibes I asked for definitely helped! I paid off the overdue portion of my bill that I was stressing about, managed to get most of my Christmas shopping done, and paid off a good chunk off of one of my other cards – all thanks to an extra job I picked up. Just in case you missed it on Instagram or in my newsletter (which is where I share even more of my crazy stuff so you should def follow or sign up!), I picked up a bartending job. While I go in to work at 9pm and don’t leave until around 4am, meaning I’m tired AF the following day, I only work 1-2 shifts a week and so far just weekends. Which means I can make some much-needed extra cash without it interfering with my day job or blogging duties.

I know it sounds a bit extreme to some of you reading this – “Why the HECKING HECK would you do that to yourself?”. Without sharing specific amounts I’m bringing in for the sake of privacy, just know I’m almost doubling what I make every month. SAY WHAT?! My thoughts exactly. Which means I can pay off a HUGE about of my debt in very little time. And I know this job isn’t going to be forever, but it sure as hell is doing a lot for me right now! It’ll definitely put me in a better financial position by the time we get married, which means we can actually consider moving out or buying our own home!
And it’s not even as bad as it sounds. Honestly, because I’m running around most of the time I don’t even realize I’m exhausted until we’re done at the end of the night. And the job itself is fun – I have an excuse to get out of the house and talk to people (instead of just my cats), I make good money, and the girls I work with are amazing! But moving on to blogging business…
You probably saw it in last month’s post, in my newsletter, or on social media, but juuuuuuust in case you missed it, I’m starting 2 new things in January! The first is an email book + wine club and the second is a weekly meal planning service/club. For both, you get exclusive access to a Facebook group where we can all chat, share book recommendations, recipes , etc. With the book club, you’ll get a book and wine recommendation each month, delivered right to your inbox. And for the meal planning, you’ll get a weekly meal plan with linked recipes and cooking tips, which will make dinner time much easier! SO. If you haven’t signed up yet, click here for the book + wine club and here for the weekly meal planning. And if you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
The thing I love most about November is Thanksgiving. The food, visiting with family, and of course, the sales afterward. And aside from the turkey, my favorites have to be mac and cheese and dirty rice – which I have the recipes for both in this post. And nothing says Thanksgiving dessert quite like pumpkin pie, but because I absolutely loathe pumpkin, I opt for this sweet potato version instead!
Black Friday and Cyber Monday
After Thanksgiving is over, we usually search through the sale papers to see if there’s anything worth leaving house for. I definitely prefer shopping online, so I get most of my shopping done on Monday from the comfort of my own home. This year we ventured out on Friday for a little while, but I still ended up getting the bulk of my shopping done on Monday. I managed to pick up most of my gifts for everyone this year, which is amazing, but of course I picked up some stuff for myself too! Most of it is still arriving, but here are some of my favorites:
This stuff is AH-MAZING holy cow! I’ve used it several times now and it has lasted through those crazy bartending shifts. No creasing at all and it looks like I just applied my makeup even at 5am!
I had been using Benefit’s Boi-ing concealer for a while now, but after a few hours I noticed it creases pretty bad and ends up fading/wearing off pretty quick. So I’ve been looking for another and when I asked one of the Sephora employees, she recommended this one. While I was a bit skeptical at first (I thought she was trying to sell me something pricey), this stuff is great! It blends out like crazy while still having great coverage, doesn’t look cakey, and a little goes a looooong way. I will say that it does look a bit greasy/oily without setting powder, but since I always use setting powder it’s not an issue for me.
I’ve been really unhappy with this popular face primer – despite it working really well to make my makeup last, it dries out my skin and clogs my pores like crazy, so I’ve been looking for another. My sister uses this Korres Greek Yoghurt one and swears by it, so I decided to give it a try. It’s definitely much more moisturizing that my old one, and as far as making my makeup last, it works just as well.
I also switched to this NARS eye primer after yet-another popular one hasn’t worked for me, and I absolutely love it! It’s not greasy or heavy like my old one, and really does a great job keeping my eye makeup in place and preventing creasing. I’ve also noticed my eye makeup doesn’t fall at all anymore, which means I don’t look like a crazed raccoon at 4am.
I have one of those common but confusing skin types – oily but dry. And lately with this crazy weather, my skin has been all over the place and my regular moisturizer just isn’t doing the trick. My other sister swears by this one, and when I tried hers out I fell in love. It’s not greasy, doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin, and works SO well. And while it went on sale for Black Friday, it sold out almost immediately. But I found it on Amazon for $5 cheaper than Sephora so I ordered it there instead, and it should actually be in today!
Out last one died after the lightening incident at our house, so I decided to pick up a new one while it was on sale.
I bought 2 sets of these years ago and they have lasted so well. We’re only just now needing some more all these years later, and when I saw they were on sale for 50% off (only $15 per set!) I ordered 2 more.
I FINALLY ordered my first Morphe palettes! Obviously I had to get the Jaclyn Hill palette, but I also picked up the 35P (plum) and 35B (color glam) ones too. While the Jaclyn Hill one arrived yesterday just fine, the 35P arrived with broken shadows so I’m in the process of having it exchanged, and the 35B is arriving today so we’ll see! The colors for the 2 that are already here are absolutely gorgeous, and the chunks of broken powder that fell out were so buttery and pigmented. I’m really excited to try them all out soon!
I know, I know. “Cameron, you’ve included this in EVERY monthly loves post for the past few months!”. Yes, but I am just loving it so much! If you sold more these past few months than you did all of last year, you’d be pretty darn excited too! I enjoy sending out beautiful pieces to people knowing I’m making something they’ll love. This month I sold these beautiful earrings and a necklace, and just had another order in for a personalized bar necklace yesterday! Check out the rest of the shop here if you’re looking for the perfect gift for someone special!
